    3. Subramanya Bharathi’s patriotic songs stirred Nationalism in the people.

    1. Gandhiji launched the Civil Disobedience Movement (1930) as the Viceroy Lord Irwin did not accept his demands.
    2. In TamilNadu, Rajaji organised and led a salt Sathyagraha March to Vedaranyam on 13th April from Tiruchy and reached Vedaranyam on 28th April.
    3. People all along the route welcomed the marchers.
    4. Volunteers broke the salt law by picking up salt at Vedaranyam.
    5. Rajaji was arrested. Leaders like TSS Rajan, Rukmani Lakshmipathy, Sardar Vedarathnam C. Swaminathar and K. Santhanam participated in it. ]

    Widespread Agitations in Tamil Districts:
    1. T. Prakasam led the protest in Madras. Protests were held in various places in Tamil Nadu.
    2. Rukmani Lakshmipathy was the first woman to pay fine for partipating in the Sathyagraha.
    3. Leaders like Kamaraj, Satyamurthy played an important role.
    4. In Tiruppur a procession which carried the national flag was brutally attacked by the police.
    5. Tirupur Kumaran fell dead holding the national flag. He is hailed as ‘Kodikatha Kumaran’.
